Safety Harbor Resort and Spa

Had an absolutely wonderful time!! The location by the water is beautiful and the morning sun was fantastic. It’s an older hotel resort but that’s part of the charm. The food was fantastic and perfect for a five course Valentines dinner. The dessert was one of the best I’ve had. No kidding!!! The spa staff and overall staff for the resort in general, very accommodating but not in that “ intrusive” way. Found myself watching the sunrise this morning wishing we didn’t have to go home… here’s to looking forward to the next visit.

I recently stayed at the resort for a business meeting and had a wonderful experience. While the property is a bit older, the history behind it is truly fascinating and adds so much character. The rooms were very comfortable, and I especially appreciated the spacious walk-in showers. The front desk staff made check-in quick and seamless, and they provided excellent information about the spa and the surrounding area. I decided to visit the spa and was treated to an incredible tour and detailed history by Katie at the spa front desk. She was absolutely amazing—knowledgeable, welcoming, and a true asset to the property. My fiancée purchased the spa package as a Christmas gift for me last year and I was finally able to use it this weekend. I had never had a spa day and I was looking forward to being pampered after a few stressful, bad months. I was so excited to finally experience being pampered and I got the exact opposite experience here. I arrived at 9:30 which my 1st item on the packs which was a 25 min massage began at 10 so the itinerary was arrive check in get tour then start massage. I checked in and it took 20 min. So we are now closer to 10am so no tour. Then after I finally checked in I asked the lady in the front desk what is the next step do I wait in a different lobby or what and I was dismissed with give me a sec I got a line .. ok fine. Then I waited another 15 min and no one came to get me

Positive: it was not a crappy motel with criminals outside your door waiting to rob you like some other places in FL. Nice enough area, most of what you want to eat is just a walk down the main street. free parking is available next to the resorts paid parking. Negative: toilet was really low . Prices are high for just about everything.

My review is based on my perspective as a Florida local who visited for a day spa experience. Bottom line, I won’t be returning. There were a couple of highlights - the grouper sandwich at the grill was very good, and the quality of the massage itself was good. Beyond that, the overall experience was pretty bad. Upon entering the women’s amenity area, there was a strong sewer-like odor. I had heard this had been an issue in the past but hadn’t experienced it personally until now. The check-in process felt impersonal and uncomfortable - more like arriving for a doctor’s appointment you’d rather avoid than the start of a relaxing spa day. After our massages, we weren't able to get water in the relaxation area because the staff spent the 20 minutes we were there chatting instead of assist
