Rutherford Mountain Campground

It's a small camp ground and the sites are fairly close. The grounds were clean, the people nice, and the views aren't terrible. The pool was closed seasonally and there are no showers in bath house. It was pretty convient to get to Chimney rock and the blue ridge parkway which is where we spent most of our time. We loved how quiet and dark it was. Good place to stay if it's just to sleep or sit out by a camp fire.

This campground has beautiful mountain views. It is also close to Lake lure/Chimney Rock with tons of outdoor things to do. The owner is very nice and very helpful. They have a new salt water pool, but it is closed-- due to us staying in the off season. They currently have 8 full hook-up sites, 8 water/electric only sites and several tent camping sites. The sites are level and have gravel as the base in the RV sites. The bathhouse is nice and well kept. The picnic tables are weather worn, but the owner is in the process of replacing them. He made sure we got a new one when he got the first batch delivered. I have enjoyed staying here with my family and have recommended this campground to my friends and family.

Wonderful campground with hookups for the RVs and camping spots (we stayed in #1) with a clear spot for tents and supplies. In the mountains with a nice pool the kids loved. The owner Tom was super nice and greeted us upon arrival. Within 20 minutes of Lake Lure, great prices and even though there were other campers, we felt like we had the place to ourselves. The kids enjoyed the time away and the scenic environment and the lots of swimming in the pool. Good wi-fi in the middle of nowhere, but limited cell service. Great for a family vacation or time off the grid.

We camp here twice a month, rain or shine. The owner is super friendly and accommodating. There is a lovely inground pool which is amazing during the summer and the bathrooms have a shower as well! There's tons of open space and the scenery is absolutely beautiful! Its out of the way, so it's usually not crowded. A great place for a romantic getaway or just to unwind.

We looked hard to find a nice campground around Lake Lure. There are only a few. The Desk at the Wyndham Rumbling Bald Resort recommended the Rutherford Mountain Campground to us and said you will love the views. Plus it is convenient to places on the lake. Wow is what you will say when you drive up onto this high plateau and take in the mountains all around you. The sites are flat and have all hookups. The campground itself is cleared of trees and quite open so that you got the stunning vistas all around. The restrooms are clean and there is a salt water pool.....no kidding....high up in the North Carolina mountains!
