Route 66 Motel

We stopped in to this motel with the promise of clean rooms but were met with a complete infestation of roaches. I had to file with my bank to get a refund. The manager wouldn't give me my money back. I reported them to the health department but I don't think they will even do anything. The literally don't clean the rooms. There was trash and grime everywhere. Save your money and your sanity.

Because of recent good reviews on another site we stayed here overnight. Please do not make that same error. Where do I start. The people were nice enough but room was dirty. Smoke alarm battery gone. No hot water or water pressure. Sink was old and cracked and rusted. Had to beg to get another hand towel as there was only one. Huge hole on ceiling in closet area. Sheets stained and ripped. Mattress pad lumpy. Chairs dirty. Heater did not work properly and it was a cold night. Either too hot or too cold. Mini blinds broken. Didn't want to walk on carpet it was so gross. Someone else's trash was under bed valance. Toilet was loose from floor. Only one light bulb in three bulb fixture. We asked for more and could not get anymore. Room very dark. Very low wattage bulbs in all lamps. Door

I stumbled upon this little Route 66 motel after doing some night photography nearby on the route. It was dark and cold, and I needed a place to stay for the night. The lobby was nice and warm, which felt great! I like staying at older mom and pop motels especially along Route 66, and this business fit the description well. I thought it was a bit odd paying a $20.00 cash deposit but I'm sure they had their reasons. The first room, the doorknob was janky and the heater wasn't working, and they switched me right away and said they'd fix the other room before renting again. This room was clean and comfortable. Everything worked. I appreciated that they thought of having USB chargers which was helpful with laptop and camera batteries, etc. I'd stay again.

Got to the room at 3am. Went to the room and there were roaches crawling on the bed and walls. Took video and told him, he tried to switch rooms but even the other room had roaches on the TV stand and counter. Got my money back. Drove 14 hours...not going to pay to sleep with roaches. I'll sleep in my car!

Advertise "clean rooms" but we actually went across to Dollar General and bought our own sheets/blanket. I don't know if bedding was simply "stained up" (wash cloths were stained as well) or not laundered. Positive side was they allowed dogs ($10 per night) and did have two outside electrical hookups for boats.
