Rough River Dam State Resort Park

The 2 stars are for the Lodge Restaurant buffet 9-19-25 at 6pm. I have eaten the buffet 5 times and it was wonderful. We bragged about the food. This visit we brought friends the chicken was so dry you couldn't get it off the bone and couldn't chew it enough to get it moist. The catfish was like rubber everything was way over salted. The loved our deluxe 2 bedroom cottage it was super clean. The service was great. Really disappointed in the buffet. Julie Walker

This is our third summer staying at Rough River Dam State Resort Park. |We love the area: away from city, calm and quiet. |The lodge crew and housekeeping have always been great. |The “old” cottages are nice inside, and fire pits and grills and picnic tables for each cabin are great. Parking in that area is terrible though, especially if you have more than one vehicle. And there’s no flat yard area for corn hole or such. |The “new” cottages area is amazing! Ample parking. And the open floor plan is great. |Pool area has always been clean. The beach is eroded and you can’t swim there anymore. They are also working on the dam so you are not allowed to go to the campground or the tail waters. It is scenic and you could boat. There is a restaurant across the street, Big Mouths. The resort motel is open and 2 motels across the street.

Our family group of 9 met at the resort for a reunion. (We came from Virginia, Illinois and Indiana.) This Rough River Dam State Park Resort is our new favorite spot. The rooms are modern and very comfy. Super clean! Food at the lodge is excellent. Served buffet style, it works well for a variety of tastes and appetites. The servers, and staff as a whole, are so friendly and helpful. The lodge is a great place to meet and visit. Indoor and outdoor seating areas are spacious. Cute gift shop. On Friday evening there was live music on the patio with outdoor bar service. Really great music and atmosphere. We all highly recommend!

Well let me start by saying that we love rough river and have stayed here many times. We reserved a room in the lodge for 2 nights Sept 5th till Sept 7th 2025. We live 3 1/2 hours away so when we arrived to our room it smelled musky. They had 2 dehumidifiers running and the floor was extremely wet. There was potato chips on the floor and on the bed along with medication bottles on the floor. We were extremely disappointed but we didn’t check in till late so we managed the night but left the next morning even tho we paid for the whole weekend. I don’t care if it’s fancy all we care is that it is clean and presentable anyway we were extremely disappointed how the room was presented and how the staff let it get so run downed. I know we won’t ever stay at the lodge again. I don’t like posting
