Rock Island Inn & Suites Streator IL

My family and I booked two rooms for a wedding, and the hotel only marked down that we had a reservation for one room, not two. Rooms on the wedding block were discounted, however we had to pay full price for the second room. There was immediately a language barrier; man working the front desk was very hard to understand because of this accent. First room we had was infested with bed bugs. We were given another room without complaint. Entire hotel had a strange, unpleasant odor; it smelled like cigarettes and mold. Second room had paint peeling off the bathroom wall and the same unpleasant smell throughout the room. Photos listed are stolen and not how the room actually looked.

On the plus side, the woman at the front desk was very sweet and friendly. The shower in our room had great water pressure and the bed was comfortable. Sadly, the rest of the story…”back” door to the hotel didn’t lock. Reported to them and they confirmed that there was no lock. What? Several towels were stained. Pull out bed hadn’t been pulled out in I don’t know how long. Filthy. There was confetti in the pullout and no bedding. We cancelled a future reservation. AmericInn used to be a place we could count on. Very sad.

We were super disappointed. When my family and I walked in, the place smelled like no one cleans it, we check the pool and it had mold and fungus everywhere the pool smelled like plastic no chlorine at all. The owner was really rude we could barley understand him, he also charged my mom extra because he lied that it doesn’t say we have a dog but we actually wrote in the hotel reservation that we have a dog. when we enter the hotel room, it smelled horrible so we lit a candle which helped a little. The bathroom had mold and didn’t look cleaned at all. We were really upset. The owners wife was really rude our dog tried coming up to her and she pushes my dog away. Honestly the only good thing is that everything is around. Like pizza hut and everything.

We always stay here when we come visit family. Mike and his crew are always so accommodating to our needs. Such nice people.

I know you don’t have a lot of options looking for hotel in this city, I would not stay here. It’s worth driving half an hour to go to another hotel than staying here. I do not even know how state hasn’t shut down this place. DO NOT BOOK IN THIS HOTEL.
