During our recent stay at the Riverview hotel, my sisters and I experienced inexplicable phenomena that made it impossible for us to stay overnight. Despite the hotel's stunning architecture and cleanliness, our room had an eerie atmosphere. The lights would flicker and turn off on their own, and shadows of an unidentifiable figure appeared in the bathroom while my sister was bathing. The blankets had unusual swoosh markings and oversized handprints. We heard strange noises throughout the night and decided to conduct an EVP session. When we asked if we were safe, the response was a definitive 'no.' Although the response to our question about their identity was unclear, the communication was unmistakable. The room was freezing, even with the heating set to 74 degrees. Despite our fear, the
Historic inn next to the waterfront in downtown St Marys is like a step back in time. All of the staff are very helpful and they held perishable items in the kitchen for me while I was visiting. The room window lacks a screen so you must rely on the split-unit which is sized too large for the small room and thereby results in short cycle where the room is cool but the humidity has not been extracted. The sink stopper didn't work. There was somebody smoking on the roof which I could smell.
A historic site with clean rooms. Just right across the street of the ferry to the Cumberland island. It's very ironic because the hotel's quiet hour starts and 10pm but there's a bar with outdoor seats open until 2am right next to the building. Music and people were so loud that I wasn't able to fall asleep until 2.30 ish. This issues really need to be taken care of (I.e. only indoor after midnight or something)
A real old style family run hotel. You get to experience real costal Georgia. Highly recommend. Reasonably priced, friendly, comfortable, lots of style and definitely not a chain. In the same family over 100 years. Excellent restaurant and bar. If your going to St Marys don't miss it.
I took my 14 year old daughter as well as my 77 year old mother for a day on Cumberland Island. We stayed at the inn Friday and Saturday night. My brother and I have stayed there before. From my prior experience, the inns location, quality of the rooms and service; I wanted my daughter and mother to experience this fine establishment. There is a fantastic restaurant off of the main lobby with a great selection of seafood. I have severe food allergies(beef, pork, dairy, tree nuts, and shellfish). Chef Josh was outstanding in making sure there was no cross contamination of my meal, the Grouper sandwich. Which was perfect! The young lady who served our table was awesome just as the entire staff in the restaurant, to the desk clerk, the ladies and the young man who worked the bar. I would with
