Rising Sun Motor Inn

08-31-2025. We stayed at Rising Sun Motor Inn a lovely stay right inside the National Park! The wooden cabins have a beautiful view of the mountains right from the window. A few trails even start from the area, which is super convenient for hikers. You’ll find plenty of huckleberry bushes nearby, but remember, it’s bear country, so stay alert. The restaurant serves good food, and there’s a general store for essentials and souvenirs. Wifi is only available in the restaurant area, and there’s no phone signal in the cabins or most parts of the park, so make sure to download offline maps in advance. ⭐ Bonus tip: Try waking up early you might spot deer or even elk wandering near the cabins at sunrise! I hope you’ll like my review — I tried to give you a heads-up and a quick glimpse!

We were pleasantly surprised with the spaciousness of our room especially after staying elsewhere in cramped quarters. We loved the impressive Red Bus decor which grabbed our attention as soon as we walked in..The location was convenient to other areas of the park. The Two Dog Grill was a peasant surprise and loved the convenience of not having to leave the area for meals. We would stay here again and recommend Rising Sun to others as well.

My husband and I stayed 2 nights- staff was great checking us in at 1:30pm and Daniel and Ricardo provided hiking suggestions. The cabin is quite small, but it was clean and quiet. At $274 per night I expected more- please provide WiFi. The lobby does allow WiFi access, but it’s small and a bit inconvenient after hiking all day. The location is good, but I’d prefer the Lake McDonald area, which is more centrally located. Food at 2 Dog Flats was delicious and we appreciated the great service from TJ. We also enjoyed several meals at Russel’s Dining Room in Lake McDonald Lodge. The Rising Sun staff went above and beyond to make our stay perfect- that’s the main reason for my 4* rating.

We extended out stay an extra night. The location was great for our hikes and sightseeing. This was our first time at the National Glacier Park. We did not travel with children. This location was great with a restaurant for both breakfast and dinner. The staff was great and very helpful with ideas of where to go and what to see. We really enjoyed the quiet setting. We were never disturbed with noise of any kind. Our room was very very clean with an awesome bed to sleep in. If I was to travel again to the park, I would definitely stay here again. We were near the east entrance and was able to get to the gas station, visitor's center, supermarkets quickly and easily.

The Rising Sun is a charming trip back in time. Yes, it is an older style of cabin motel but has everything you need. The location inside the park, close to a variety of hiking trails is excellent. The staff was very helpful and consistently pleasant. Our room had everything we needed and was spotless. The on site restaurant had a variety of options and we enjoyed several meals there. There was a well stocked camp store. If we get to visit Glacier NP again, we will try to get rooms at the Rising Sun.
