Quiet place quiet neighbors close to food and not far from dollar store

On our return to Nebraska, we planned to stay in Jonesboro but the hotels were filled. So, we decided to travel on and just stay in a motel along the way. We knew we would be going through several small towns and decided on the Callahan Hotel in Walnut Ridge, AR. We looked at reviews of this hotel on Tripadvisor and there were comments like "charming, quaint, etc." There was only one negative review of this hotel and it was scathing. We decided that there always has to be someone who complains and took it with a grain of salt. We were wrong! This place is filthy. Absolutely filthy. We had a two bed room and when my husband turned down the sheets on his bed, there were long black hairs. Obviously, these sheets had not been washed since the last guest had stayed. I rented a room from this place and wasn't able to get moved into due to I wasn't given a key or was told what room I was renting. I requested a refund of 650 dollars in January but the owner denied it stating move in after January. They rented the available rooms and I'm out of 650 dollars that I don't and didn't have. DONT RENT FROM THESE PEOPLE!! YOU WILL BE OUT ON THE STREETS WITH OUT YOUR RENT REFUNDED

Our stay was very pleasant, we stayed for a few weeks and it was lovely, we were allowed to cook in a hot pan so that was nice, we did our laundry there & it's very affordable. Right now we're staying at a motel that doesn't allow us to cook and even the owner told us "that's too much stuff you're unloading, I don't want it in there, take it back" it was shocking to say the least. We still got our things when he walked away. Anyway, I wish we had lovely owners & people working at the inn like Lisa & her daughter. Thank you!
