Residence Inn by Marriott Denver Golden/Red Rocks

Stayed at the Residence Inn by Marriott Denver Golden/Red Rocks and really enjoyed the location — super convenient to Red Rocks Amphitheatre, shops, and restaurants in Golden. The suites are spacious with full kitchens, making it great for longer stays, and the complimentary breakfast is a nice bonus. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the hotel has nice amenities like a pool and fitness center. Some areas could use a little updating, but overall it’s a comfortable and practical choice for families or travelers wanting extra space.

I am not sure how to make sense of my experience at this residence inn. We were there twice, around thanksgiving time and then a month after for our son’s graduation. And we are Marriott Bonvoy members. The stay during thanksgiving was ok and the room was comfortable, although one time the general manager asked me out of the blue to show her an ID after we had been there for 3 days or so. That was rude and demeaning of her. During our second visit, we were there for just two days. At check in we were assigned a small room that should have been out of service. It had stagnant foul smelling water in the dishwasher and same odor coming out of the kitchen faucet. We travelled to the Denver area for my oldest son's competitive soccer Regional tournament. Staying for a week, comfort and space were of top priority when choosing a place to stay. This Residence Inn was the perfect combination of those. The room was spacious enough for the 5 travelers in my party. 2 separate bedrooms and bathrooms accommodated our needs perfectly and the sofa sleeper was comfortable as well. The layout of the room was very spacious and the kitchen area was perfect and even larger than I had imagined when reserving the room. The bedding was incredibly comfortable and the quietness of the overall hotel was incredible! What a difference a year makes. The last time I stayed here I really appreciated its location, room and dog friendly environment. This time I was very disappointed in the cleanliness. The floor was not clean, there was dirty laundry left on the floor and the bathroom needs a good cleaning. There was one glass and very few kitchen amenities. Even though the hotel was nearly empty when we arrived, the selection of rooms they offered was extremely limited. The reason at the desk was that manager closed off certain rooms. The people at the counter were kind and the hot breakfast was appreciated but nothing beats cleanliness at a hotel.

Let me preface this by saying I valued the Residence Inn brand fairly highly, especially when growing up. There was a time when my family had an extended stay at one for over 3 months. Over the years as I traveled, I stayed at many. That being said, this was by far the worst Marriott Residence Inn I have stayed at. Room service was promised every other day but even with that, they didn't make the bed. Only towels were replaced. The AC stopped working because the thermostat ran out of batteries. I requested for maintenance both on the night it stopped working and in the morning. I was promised that the maintenance crew would repair this during the day.
