Hampton Inn Denver-West/Golden

We arrived to check in to our King/Studio rooms we had reserved and paid for online at 4:30 in the afternoon. Check in time is advertised at 3:00. The person at the desk (Mario ?) said that housekeeping hadn't cleaned our rooms and they would not be available until later... with no estimate as to when that would be. We could accept a Queen room (NOT what we had booked and paid for) or wait until later. We were unable to freshen up and change clothes before meeting our family for dinner. We asked to leave our luggage (that we had already carried in from the cars) to be delivered to our rooms when the rooms were clean and we left to have dinner with our family. When we returned to the hotel at 9:00 our bags had been delivered. Both families bags had been delivered to one room. Fortunately

Positive: The pool and hot tub Negative: The room smelled like sewer. Sink and black stuff that backed up from the pipes. I called the front desk and they said it was because sometimes pipes back up. Did not offer to move us to a different room. I had to clean the sink. The 2nd night was worse

Went to check in, pool and hot tub are down for maintenance, been like this over a month and nothing on the site saying so, only reason I booked here. The room was small, and as I went to shower, turned on the shower head, and for 5 whole seconds, there was rust water that came out from the pipes. Like what???!!! You have to pay extra for parking, a pet, and the breakfast was terrible.. Please do better!

The staff made this place great! It was clean, well-stocked, and had fresh cookies and lemonade along with coffee in the lobby all the time. The location is a bit odd behind a strip mall area, but it's convenient for easy food. It was perfect for our trip to Red Rocks though. A really easy drive. They have the schedule for Red Rocks and a 3rd party shuttle option posted in the lobby too.

Overall good experience. Room was a bit dusty (check the ac units filter it improved our situation) and the carpet could definitely use a vacuum. The towels were a bit rough and aged too. The heating in the room was a bit inconsistent and ran mostly hot, I found it better to just turn it off.
