Pocahontas State Park Entrance

Went for an overnight camping trip on two separate occasions. The restrooms were clean, the camping sites were clean, the water pressure at the sites was good, and best of all...we had electricity. The only negative was that the site locations for "Buddy" sites are not on the direction posts for guidance. I'd recommend having the ranger at the front booth circle the site on a park map so that you don't get lost.

We went there specifically for the pool and water spray area, the kids had lots of fun and really got to play a lot. There is a small concession stand at the pool area with pizza, hot dogs, chicken nuggets and cold non alcohol beverages. BRING the sun screen!!! All bags and coolers are checked so no contraband such as alcohol or glass bottles.

Always a good visit. VA state parks offer free admission/parking if you have a handicap placard. There is also a form online to request free access if you don’t have a placard handy. Otherwise they spot your blue card in the windshield and wave you right on in without issue. Wish other state parks did this!!

One of our favorite places to camp. Close to convenient ammenities for shopping in town. Campsites are large and private with areas of nice wooded coverage for shade. Plus loads of hiking and biking trails. There is a large pool with Waterpark that is a fun place to cool off. There are nice gravel areas with picnic tables and firepits.
