I can say, without a doubt, that our stay at Platte Creek Lodge in Platte, SD, was the single best hunting experience we have ever had. What sets this lodge apart is its incredible commitment to an authentic, wild bird hunt. After years of hunting various preserves, Platte Creek was a revelation. This is, by far, the most natural and challenging hunt available in the state. The pheasants were incredibly abundant… the most plentiful supply of wild birds our group has seen in 15 years. Our stay at Platte Creek Lodge was truly unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, Tom and Nova’s warm hospitality made us feel right at home. The lodge was cozy and inviting—an ideal spot to relax and unwind. Each morning, we were greeted with a delicious hot breakfast that fueled us for a full day of fishing on the water. And the fishing—what a time. The group had an absolute blast, hauling in plenty of walleye. The guides were more than just experts—they were great storytellers and comedians, keeping us entertained throughout the day. They knew the waters like no one else, always putting us on the fish. My 15 yr old son and I had the privilege of experiencing Platte Creek Lodge with our Grandpa/Father-in-law who is currently in a cancer battle. The scenery was gorgeous. The lodge is meticulously decorated and cleaned. However, none of that is as beautiful as the hearts of hosts Tom and Nova. Understanding our situation and how things change on a daily bases when fighting cancer they were super flexible if needed. They went out of their way to make sure everything was top notch. They have servant hearts and it shows in how they care for everyone as people first and the business second. Yes, we took home limits of fish but that was secondary to the friendships made. You will have no regrets when you book with Platte Creek Lodge for excellent guided fishing. All of their guides are skilled, knowledgeable, and most of all, very fun to fish with. This year was our third year in a row to spend a few days at the Lodge and we will be back! Tom and Nova Steinhauser are excellent hosts and their facilities are top notch. They will go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable and we always make new friends while visiting.
