Pelican Lakes Motel

I stayed in 914 and I understand it's a cheap motel, but it isn't very well maintained. The tub faucet leaks and the hard water stains make it look like it's been there quite some time. If I walked around the room barefoot, there's definitely sand all over the carpet and bathroom floor. The mattresses also kept trying to slide off whenever we got on the beds. Hopefully this place has plans to renovate at some point.

Wow, very scary. |Went to check in and there was no office or anyone for keys. No one to answer the number they had listed. | This was a run down apartment building. Do not fall for this scam. I did through expidia. Unfortunately, I can't get my money. Expidia is as crocked as this list as a motel. | Super scam

Unfortunately, I thought this was a Mom and Pop place. Nope. I opened the door to the room, turned around, shut the door, locked it and went back to the check-in, which is a block away from the motel. To be fair, there should be a cigarette hanging out of the pelican’s mouth because it is a smoking place. I didn’t even know they had smoking rooms in Minnesota.|I would not have stayed in that room, even if it had air conditioning and was non-smoking. I told the lady at the check in, I have asthma and I could not stay in that room. Unfortunately there was a huge race at the Brainerd International Raceway that weekend, and there are no rooms available. I drove the 2 1/2 hours home rather than stay in that room.

HORRIBLE. Unaware that it was smoking.. our room was non smoking but still reeked. Shady people hanging out in the parking lot and noticeably staring at us. No ice machine, ac, microwave or fridge. Had a community kitchen but I did not trust to leave my daughter’s bottles in there. 2 inch gap on the bottom of the hallway door. Door was a cheap wood. Didn’t even stay the night. Went to get a refund and they caused a huge fuss over it. false advertising on Expedia because it did not say it was a smoking building.

The good: it was cheap place to stay, and the location is wonderful. However, the rooms are pretty gross and unclean. We brought our own sheets, and were happy we did. When I approached the front desk asking if they had disinfectant wipes so I could clean up the room a little bit on my own, I was denied and told to buy some at a gas station. They also place smoking rooms next to nonsmoking rooms, causing the smell to carry between the rooms easily, and seep into your own things.
