A very long drive, but definitely worth it. Whoever said the road was rough here is over exaggerating. I got here in my Subaru Outback that had a 2-in lift. Didn't really need the lift 🤷🏽♀️ Make sure you get a permit. The Rangers patrol regularly.
White Mtn Apache Permits are required. An amazing place for sure & 4 wheel drive is a must when the rains can drop dramatically in temp & amt of rain in literally minutes here in the Alpine air of White Mtn Apache mtns during monsoon season. The old sawmill town of Maverick and its remnants of the concrete foundations left are nearby.
Not the easiest place to get to but that's what makes this place great for a quiet and beautiful retreat
Camped there a few times 30 years ago. Beautiful, sacred place. Looking forward to visiting someday soon!
