This is really the best choice for Glimmerglass visitors who are looking for a budget accommodation. Only about an 8 minute drive from the opera house. Spotlessly clean with really accommodating owners. Refrigerators and AC in the rooms. And the best prices. ($79, $97 weekends.) Furniture is not modern. They're keeping it as a retro accommodation. Beds are new and very comfortable. There's a swimming pool in front that they're in the process of rehabilitating so that's kind of an eyesore, but don't be put off by that.

From the outside you would question if you should stay here. However, our rooms were very clean. Furnishings were outdated but beds werer comfortable. Shower stall was small. There was a continental breakfast. We were the only ones staying there that night. Pool was closed and most of the buildings needed some TLC. Newer A/C in our rooms. This place is near Cooperstown, NY, so hotels tend to be pricey even those with low ratings. Only paid $90/night here. Motel across the road was going for $206/night. Biggest problems was the gravel parking lot. We were on motorcycles and the soft gravel made if hard to manuever especiall as this place only had one entrance which meant you had to back up or turn around on the gravel. Also, rooms did not have a phone to contact desk in needed.

If you cleaned out your bank account to attend the Glimmerglass Opera, then the Otsego Motel is just about the least expensive place you can stay in the area to counteract it ($108 with tax).||||The rooms are clean, convenient, and adequate (there are refrigerators in the rooms!), but definitely not fancy, so if it's luxury you crave, stay elsewhere. The rooms are a mishmash of different eras, although nothing is what I would call vintage chic. ||||If you are a late and light sleeper (say past 8:00), you will probably be woken by a motor that starts running when people start taking showers, but other than that it's pretty quiet overnight (not many people drive down Route 20 at night after the opera gets out). ||||Breakfast isn't served, and I think the closest place is around 5 miles away.

This is a small motel off the beaten path in East Springfield the next town over if you are visiting Cooperstown - it was INCREDIBLY CLEAN and the customer service was outstanding. Family kind of place, they had a better breakfast than any of the many high priced hotels I have stayed at and it was very affordable! I highly recommend a stay if you're in the neighborhood especially during the busy season up there. ||-B :)
