Orange Point - Welaka State Forest

Amazing campsite in beautiful Florida wilderness. A bit of warning to campers, you will need to hike all of your gear to this spot from the parking area which is approximately a two mile hike. The trail is blocked by a closed gate so there is no ability to get your vehicle near the site. The hike itself is flat terrain on a wide vehicle path. The campsite is pristine and the view over the water is spectacular. The only issues we had are that even though it is considered primitive camping we were still able to hear the other campsite at Johns landing throughout the night. Our camping trip was also unfortunately cut short from three nights to only one due to a sketchy encounter with other campers (unclear if they actually were campers or were just people out in the woods) when they wandered

Fantastic location. Perfect for paddling up from the river or a short hike (around 2 miles) in from the park lot to the camp grounds. Lots of trails in the area and beautiful springs.

Hiked in and stayed 2 nights. It was a great experience with a very private campsite and fabulous view of the river. There are no amenities like water, restrooms or electricity so be prepared.

Nice local camping spot on the river. Has a fire ring, elevated-grill, picnic table, and a hook to hang something. Area is relatively flat and shaded.

The site had a picnic table and a great view of the water. The trail to the point was well kept, we saw turkeys and many other birds, and the view was beautiful!
