Old Federal Campground

This is a very nice Campground located on Lake Lanier. I don't think there is a bad site in the place. A very large number of them have water views and most of directly on the water. It is electric and water only but the bath houses were reasonably clean just a bit dated and could use new lighting. All the stuff that we encountered for friendly. They do have firewood available for purchase. It is a Corps of Engineer property but managed by Hall County. If you have the America the Beautiful pass the sights are half off. There is just a process to receive the discount through Hall county. It was simple and easily completed. We were on site 29 and it was very level. They also have a washer and dryer available At the bath houses for a dollar fifty for each wash and a $1.50 per dry.

Wish they could update shower house. Wish they had sewer hookups. Otherwise sites, campers, service and activities including the views are top notch. One of my favorites!

This was my second time here, and I do love it here. It's quiet, the area is gorgeous and the staff are so sweet. Good place for families 😄

I'm someone who always uses their sporadic day off to go camping. Once you make a reservation online, you should receive a call, where they give you the gate code and gladly answer any questions you may have. The office hours for registration are from 10:00 am - 7:00 pm. Once you arrive, park to the side and enter the building to register, and they will give you directions to your camping spot. Old Federal Campground is by far my favorite. The hosts are the kindest people who are protective of their home. You will never have to worry about outsiders or break-ins with them around. This visit was an eye-opener about the beauty and joy you can get from simply being on this camp ground. It has all the amenities for a nice camping trip, showers, laundry, and well-maintained roads to get to your camping spot. You can visit with your camper, rv, or simply tenting is good too. What really blew me away were the views on the water, the sandy beaches and coves. The lake was teeming with activity but never overcrowded.
