Oakwood Suites

Conflicted! The rooms were very nice. The beds were on the better half of decent. Good hot water for your shower. Clean linens, towels, etc. The staff was friendly. Free breakfast was just grab-and-go items, mainly muffins. You can enjoy all of this for a very low fee. That was the best part. $54.00/night. However, you're going to have to have a strong nose! The smell was horrible! Straight up sewer gas smell throughout the hotel. The first level was much worse than the other. I would highly recommend this hotel, if you can stand the smell.

We have stayed here more than a few times, but this stay was, unfortunately, disappointing. On the plus side, the room was comfortable, the hot water was HOT and the air conditioner worked very well in spite of the 100 plus degree temps outside. Front desk hostesses were very pleasant and helpful. Disappointments came in the form of NO housekeeping of any kind during the five days we were there. The first room we were assigned had not been cleaned, so another room was given to us. In that room the bathtub drain was clogged, and I was told there was no maintenance person to take care of it (I did it myself). If we wanted clean towels I had to take the soiled ones to the front desk, where clean ones were readily available. Trash was not taken out during our stay, unless we did it ourse

This hotel is an unexpected surprise in such a little town. There are lots of oil rigs in the area, so I assume there is demand for hotel accommodations. Our room was a suite, and it was very spacious. It had a small kitchen with a full size refrigerator, cooktop, dishwasher and even a toaster. It was a nice touch. It was as nice as many Residence Inns that I've stayed in. The hotel seemed to be fairly new and had a good price. There was a newer hotel (Holiday Inn Express) down the road, but I'm sure they didn't offer the kitchenettes. Oakwood Suites was clean and quiet. The room had seen some rough wear from the workers, but it was fine. The breakfast was great. It seemed to be a family business, and they tried hard to accommodate their guests. The hotel was always very clean. The staff always friendly and polite especially the manager! We stayed here a month or so and I can't really complain. The maids were great, even with my 2 cats with us. The room was very nice. Excellent water pressure, and everything worked except the dishwasher, which wasn't an issue for me personally. We could have switched rooms but there was no need! Would definitely go back to this hotel next time we're in town!

Let’s start with the good… the ac worked great in our room and it was pretty clean aside from a dead roach in the bathroom. The beds are fairly comfortable too. Now, the rest. This place stinks so bad like sewer. The ac in the rest of the hotel wasn’t functioning so it was about 85 degrees throughout the hotel… when you add the smell, it is pretty unbearable. The fire alarm was removed from our room, the toilet ran nonstop and the cable wasn’t working when we arrived. The pillows are flat too. If they would just fix that sewer smell though, I could have dealt with the rest. The poor front desk crew had a steady line of people complaining about everything. I felt so bad for them to have to deal with the people and the smell too. What terrible working conditions! Unfortunately, I won’t be gi
