Norrland Resort

My granddaughter spent the summer in Door County doing an internship for her environmental engineering degree, and I wanted to go up and spend a weekend visiting with her. After searching the Door County Peninsula for a last minute place to stay, I happened on this resort as most other places were fully booked. I booked one of the hotel rooms - unit 4 - for the two of us and it was perfect. The room was much more spacious than what the pictures indicated, lofted ceiling with skylights, was nicely updated and very clean. The property was well kept and quiet with plenty of area to relax, enjoy the lake view and beautiful sunset. Rooms rate was very reasonable and I would definitely recommend staying here.

We had a group of 10, rented three cottages (Mainsail, Jib and Seagull). Melissa did a great job of keeping everything in order. The location is great if you enjoy Ellison Bay. Kids can walk or ride bikes to the Pioneer Store for candy, there is a new ice cream shop within biking distance, Mink River Basin and the Cider House are all a short walk/bike ride away. We brought a boat and used the great pier for a slip. We got lucky and got some famous mid August weather that allowed all the kids to jump off and swim off the pier and swim platform for the majority of every day. The units were very clean and up to the Door County cottage standard. You aren't getting super fancy accommodations but they're cozy. We used the grills provided every single day. Lots of utensils and cookware provided.

WOW is all I can say! I have been coming to the Norrland Resort since the 1990's and this is the best it has ever looked!!! I stayed in the updated motel unit #5 and it was GORGEOUS...it even has a full refrigerator and an oven. We spent so much money eating out before, but this year I was able to cook right from our room and spend the money on fun activities instead. The manager was super sweet and very helpful and we always enjoy the other guests we meet around the fire pit at night. This is a gem that our family loves that I kinda hope nobody else finds because the rest of Door County has gotten too crazy busy. I can't wait to come back this Fall, this place just gets better and better. But don't tell anyone, LOL.

We have stayed at the Norrland Resort different times of the year both during the summer and the fall. We have enjoyed each time thoroughly. The manager was very nice to us and provided valuable information on our Door County surroundings. The cottages are just what you are looking for to meet your travel needs. We stayed in a unit with a kitchenette and living room area. It was very cozy and felt like home right when we walked in. All the supplies we could ask for were provided. The cottage was very clean and well kept up. There is a beautiful view of Ellison Bay that you just can't beat. Outside of your cottage, there are activities for guests to enjoy including the use of canoes, fire pits, and more. We look forward to staying there again.

DON'T STAY HERE!!! No integrity with any off the staff. We booked a weekend in Sept and there were very few people there. Our first interaction with a guest was another owner trying to sell us one of the units. It is also a part of a HOA (who doesn't love those?). Apparently you are not allowed to park your boat in the lot which we failed to read. We were told we could keep our boat and trailer off site in an unsecured field. Who would keep $10k+ sitting off site in unsecured field? We had talked to Scott about this and he said we were welcome to leave if we wanted to. We asked if we would receive a refund for the following 2 nights we weren't staying there and he assured us that we would get a refund.
