Newport Campground

Small Campground right next to the Wacissa River and Ouzt's Bar and Grill, a great place for oysters and beer Karma educationally Live music. The only drawback was it was on Scenic Highway 98 and I heard traffic all night long, especially big trucks. Not a quiet Campground

Victoria (campground host) was so helpful in booking a tent site for a weekend family car camping trip. She does a great job running the place and listened to our needs and helped us get the right spot. The campground is not a destination in itself but served our family well for a High School Cross Country meet in Tallahassee (30 min away) on an early Saturday morning. The campground provided a great spot for us to explore from. St. Marks lighthouse and preserve were a fun adventure. Boat landing adjacent to the campground and lots of other smaller rivers nearby for paddlers/boaters and fishing. It's a shame the TripAdvisor rating isn't higher. The facilities are clean and Victoria is very attentive to the place/people visiting.

This is a great little campground if you aren't looking for a lot of amenities. There's no playground or pool for kids. Great for fishermen or visitors who just need a nice clean site with well maintained bathrooms/showers. The location is convenient for public boat launches and visiting the various natural areas. A dumpster for trash and a dump station for RVs are available. Victoria is a good host and keeps the campground a good place for quiet relaxing.

This used to be a great camping stopover in Newport. They made great efforts to restore an old park. However, the new attendant they have is not someone you want to represent your town or park service. She is rude, loud-mouthed, and has no idea how to treat people. She doesn't talk - she barks instructions. Absolutely no pleasentries or kindness. We had just pulled in, temporary parked our rig and walked to the office site. The park attendant finally came out of her trailer in a huff. We inquired about a spot and she began ranting about we came in the wrong way and besides she didn't have anything to accommodate us - turned around and walked off. We then looked online and there were several sites, but we won't stay where a host behaves in this manner. One big rig pulled in after us at a s
