Newfound Lodge

Location v condition, the good the bad and the ugly. The good, awesome location on the river and convenient access. Friendly staff. Easy parking. The rear patio was very nice with clean chairs to sit and enjoy the river. Nice view through large windows to see the river. There is a nice set of steps, taking you down to a large rock on the bank of the river. The bad, the room had that old musty smell. The carpet was old and stained, and had blotches of paint where someone had walked around with it on the bottom of their foot. The bathroom floor had paint splattered on it. There were painted over nails sticking out of the wall in the entry. If you want to use the plug at the sink, you have to pull the mirror away from the wall and stick it behind it. Like alot of people have said it is an old hotel that needs upgrading. I do think thats part of the charm. It reminds you of a different time. Where you aren't here for amenities or luxury. Your here for the balcony views and the National Park itself. The lady at the front desk was polite and the restaurant nearby has good food. The beds were tall but comfortable. I think there are only about 20 channels on the tv. If you were in the park, visiting Gatlinburg, Piegon forge, or just looking around in Cherokee you are probably too tired to care what's on tv. As long as your not expecting a modern luxury you will enjoy your stay here

I have stayed at this hotel before and it has needed updating, but the view of the river always maede up for it. It is my understanding that it changed owners this year and we found bed bugs. We both received several bites before seeing the bugs. When I told the owner he said he would refund my money, but to be honest he didn't seem surprised. We ended up changing hotels at 11PM.

This ole 1941 lodge was super chill. We couldn't go super high end cause we brought our big hound dog. Pet friendly here for sure. Every space has a back balcony facing a nice view of the river. We sat out back and drank a bottle of wine or two. Cherokee is so much more mellow that Gatlinburg by far. I say come check every thing here.

Rooms were very outdated and not very clean. Burn holes in the sheets and we had a no smoking room at that. Water leaked really bad in the bathroom and the shower curtain was in proper so not sure why there was so much water after taking a shower. Carpets were nasty! Gaps in the door frame so there was always cold air coming in. Front desk lady was not friendly at all. They are suppose to be doing updates so fingers crossed that helps. Will not be saying until changes happen.
