While visiting friends in West Jefferson, NC, we camped at New River State Park from June 11 to 17, 2024 . The park has several campsites with different access points, but the only one with RV sites is the US 121 access area. The rest are either walk-in tent sites or paddle-in sites along the river. (The New River is a National Wild and Scenic River that is unique in that it flows south to north from North Carolina into Virginia and West Virginia. It is known for its great paddling and fishing opportunities.) Our campsite was conveniently located across from the bathhouse. It offered easy access, was semi-shaded, and had all the necessary amenities including electricity, water, and sewer. The site was equipped with a picnic table, lantern pole, and fire ring, making it a comfortable and

Had a great time at the New River State Park campground. They have several nice campsites for rent and a nice bath house close by. Good river access also whether you want to kayak, fish, tube or just wade in the river.

Awesome State Park I have spent many two week vacations there with family and friends. There's plenty to do kayaking canoeing camping hiking visiting the local towns Shatley Springs. The best of all is on the pretty days spending on the River kayaking and fishing and enjoying the wildlife. I highly recommend the state park it's cool even at night hot during the day and you still get burnt have fun on your next vacation New River State Park.

Love this little campground! Not too many RV sites, but if you can get in, it is a fabulous place. Make sure you get the site you're needing because not all sites have all the amenities: sewer, water, electricity, etc. We had full hook up and it was fantastic. They have a bath house close to all the sites. A wonderful office with wonderful staff who are waiting to answer any questions. They have a wonderful fire pit with a grill if you want to grill on wood or you can use charcoal. We did find out, you can get your firewood from fallen trees, but you may only take wood that is not attached to a tree. We purchased a little battery operated chainsaw and it worked perfect to cut up some wood! There is cell service, but no Wi-Fi. Also, the river part of the campground is closed to camping beca

Great state park campground. We stayed here and found that not all sites have water and sewer. We had an electric only site #4. There is a dump station with water on your way out. Some sites have some shade others not so much. Ours had shade to the back from the afternoon sun. VERY QUITE campground.
