Mountain Sky Hotel & Suites

Do not be misled by the pictures on the website because they are outdated and do not reflect the current condition. The place felt old and several things did not work. During my stay the weather was warm and the room temperature stayed at 85 degrees since the AC was not working. After several hours the front desk finally moved me to a different room, but only after insisting that the original room would eventually cool down. It turned into a frustrating experience. Many guests may also find the front desk staff rude in the way they speak, although to be fair their suggestions for food and local places to visit were very good.

This was my first time staying at this hotel (I usually stay elsewhere when I come to Valdez for work). The front desk staff is great so there is that. Very helpful and polite and courteous. Kudos to you all! The rooms, however...||The first room they put me in was handicap accessible with a shower that would have poured water all over the floor so they were nice enough to upgrade me to an "Executive King". This was top floor with a small kitchenette. |To start, the toilet was broken which I did not know until I used it so that was gross. Maintenance fixed it quickly though. I ran out of toilet paper and there was not any extra in the room. No kleenex, no bath mat, bath towels were old and ratted, only had one small bar of soap which I guess was for both the sink and the shower, and th

Very unprofessional, I spoke with Jason on the phone asking for a group booking and he basically told me to bug off and quit bothering him with sales calls and hung up on me. I called right back and said I wasn't selling anything but was hoping to book 28 rooms for 2026. He asked the dates and then quickly told me he did not have anything available. And once again when I tried to talk to him he hung up again. Very poor for a business attitude. I have never ever given anyone a bad review before but this was beyond my comprehension that you could treat a potential customer this way. If I did that to my customers I would not have a business very long....very sad

The place was dated for sure but clean. It’s obvious they’re doing their best with what they’ve got. We were comfortable. The desk guy was friendly and helpful. Easy walking distance to the town’s amenities. Partial views of the mountains. The only complaint was not being able to control the temperature in the room but that is a “temporary problem” they said.

Lobby is cluttered and smells like fish. |Burned out light bulbs and some with open sockets within reach from the bed. |Damaged sheet rock throughout. |Kicked in door jam that was stubborn to open. |Leaking toilet tank in bathroom. |Terrible 👎👎👎
