Motel 6 Troy, IL

My experience at Motel 6 was very disappointing. The shower was not working at all — water was not coming out of the shower, and the bathtub would not drain, so the water just stayed where you stand to shower. The room smelled very bad, and the bedsheets did not look properly cleaned. The overall cleanliness was poor, and the service was not good either. There were no basic amenities in the bathroom such as shampoo or conditioner, and the room didn’t even have an iron for clothes. For around $90 per night, you can easily find much better motels or hotels with proper service and clean rooms. Unfortunately, this was a very bad experience for me, and I would not recommend this place to anyone.

I recently stayed at this property, while attending the recent St. Louis Railroad Prototype Modelers Meet in nearby Collinsville. Since the hotels closest to the meet were booked, I needed to search farther out. I picked this Motel 6 kind of on a whim, due to its proximity to the show location, plus the room price was a factor. From the outside, the property although not bad, needed some TLC. My surprise was on the inside. The lobby was very clean, and the room was absolutely spotless! The hallways needed some cleaning, but with all the foot traffic, was to be expected. Despite what most people think about Motel 6 in general, those pre-conceived ideas need to be thrown out in this case. This was a very pleasant stay, and I would stay there again, if in the area. The room was hideous in every possible aspect. Food on the floor, the wall was rotting out at the bottom corner of the window, the bedspread had burn holes in it, & there was something splattered on the wall in the main portion of the room as well as in the bathroom (which was also dirty). We went to get dinner, and when we returned, it was like a hot, sweaty crew of railroaders, or linemen, or SOMETHING, got off work, came to the hotel, and then they all simultaneously removed their foul-smelling work boots. The odor was BAD in our room, but FAR worse in the hallway. Kind of like a high school kid left their sweaty gym clothes and shoes in a locker over Spring Break. I have never been to a more disgusting motel in my life. There was bed bugs and roaches in the room. The room smelled horrible. The customer service was awful. I had to throw away everything I brought into the room because I did not want to take bugs home with me. It was that bad.

It’s very clean and affordable with great staff! And pet friendly ❤️
