Motel 6 Montgomery, AL - Eastern Blvd.

I’ve been to lots of motels through the US, from Motel 6 to Super 8’s. I am very easy to please, and I really don’t mind grubby hotels, worn decor, etc, they’re just a place to rest my head for the night. All of them you get what you pay and I see so many people giving unfair 1 star reviews expecting luxury, but this place was the absolute exception. I have no idea how the hell they have 4.2 stars currently. The room inexplicably reeked of body odour and the woman at the front desk clearly couldn’t care less about her job. I ended up getting a partial refund from them because of how disgusting the place is.

Positive: Nothing at all Negative: Yes! Paid for a king sized bed, given full sized. Provided two towels, when asked for more, they didn’t have any. Upon time to check out, no one was at front desk, had to call. Had to wait 10 minutes while clerk check room before deposit returned.

The room was disgusting. Grime all over the sink, bathroom floors had hair and who knows what else all over them, spider web in shower, mold in bathroom. Room smelled strongly of marijuana smoke. The bed felt like it was going to collapse. We asked the front desk clerk for 2 additional wash clothes and 2 extra towels ( only 2 of each in the room upon arrival with a family of 4). The desk clerk asked us to come to the desk to get them, which my husband did. She only had one extra towel because "they were out". We checked out 30 minutes after arriving. The lady at the desk gave my husband a sour response and seemed irritated at the inconvenience. She did offer to switch out rooms, but at that point we were disgusted by the whole experience. This Econo Lodge in Montgomery is old, unwelcoming, dirty and dangerous. We called ahead to tell them we were going to arrive late upon arrival the night auditor barely spoke to us and showed us a small stand on the welcome desk for us to read. We were tired and just wanted to sleep. So we decided to stay.|We went to our room which had really old furniture. On the ceiling, the smoke alarm was missing with loose wires hanging. Before entering the bathroom, a light fixture was also missing with hanging wires too. At this point we just wanted to sleep. So when we saw several dirt spots on the bed sheets. “Well hi folks… Tom Bodett here in spirit, because if I’d walked into the room I got at this Motel 6, I’d have turned right around and left the light off.” From the moment I opened the door, the smell hit me like a brick — fetid, rank, malodorous, and downright putrid. It felt like the room was airing its own grievances. We booked for three people and got two towels, which I guess was their idea of a team-building exercise. Asking for more towels? That turned into an adventure postponed until “maybe tomorrow morning… around checkout time.” The phone didn’t work, unless its purpose was to sit there silently judging our choices.
