Mort's on Upper Red

Placed us in a perfect spot to park for 2 nights of camping for us. Walk out acess and a nice warm, clean fish cleaning building. They work hard to make sure we had everything we needed.

Just wrapped up an awesome weekend of fishing on Upper Red thru Mort’s. Just great time, from check in and grabbing bait at the cozy bar, to the shack and the staff there to check in and assure we were having a good time. When you get there, follow the road left immediately and then as you near the Dead End sign, you’ll take a right and almost pull a 180 to go a few hundred feet to the bar/bait/showers/fish cleaning house. Very accommodating and friendly, the staff gave us pointers on when they’ve heard about good bite times, hooked us up with minnows and waxies, and made us feel welcome and happy to be there. I’ve been going to Red Lake for over 20 years. When we got to Mort’s the first thing Scott said to us was I need the money for the group. I said the whole group isn’t here, Scott said I don’t chase fishermen for money. His cabin smelled of sewer gas and one of the beds was a cot which was broken. The roads were not maintained on the lake and he didn’t drive us out to the house. He didn’t share any information about the ice. Very dangerous would not recommend this resort.

Brought my family up for the weekend. Rented a 4 bunk 190 a night. First thing they said it wasn't their "gig" to get us to the ice house, but wouldn't let me drive my truck. They eventually gave me a ride to the house. Then wouldn't let a friend drive their car out lol.... mind you 14" of ice. We get into the ice house was trash all over the bunks. The out house had feces in the bag and urine frozen to the seat. Clearly they don't clean these in-between guest. First day goes by we don't even mark a fish... someone from the resort stops by we tell him request to move says he'll stop back after visiting the rest of the guest. Never comes back. I called the resort asked again to be moved. This time they said it was to late they'll do it the next day. Next day they never come I decide to pack

This place is down right dangerous. My family paid to have their shack placed on Red. They pulled it out and left. They could not open the door because it was so unlevel. My family had to break in. When their battery died on their truck they called the resort and they said “you are on your own”. This is unacceptable!! -30 out. Do not go here..
