Mohican-Memorial State Forest

We stayed at the pet friendly cabins in the state park camping area. We try to do it every year as a tradition. The cabins are well kept. They include a small kitchen, shower, fireplace, wifi, tv and a large screened porch. They will sleep 8 people. In the winter, I have stayed with 4 and would not wish to have more than that. In the summer, you can get outside more and spread out. Main trailheads go right through this area and you can be hiking or biking within 5 minutes on a trail heading to some of the most beautiful places in the park. It's just minutes from Loudonville with coffee shops and restaurants. The price is reasonable and if you are looking for comfort in the woods, I don't think you can beat it.

Amazing park—definitely one of my favorites. Moderately trafficked for a Saturday morning, but still spaced out enough to enjoy real peace and quiet. The views are beautiful, and the trails are well maintained. Some sections are more challenging, which makes the hike feel even more rewarding. I highly recommend bringing walking sticks for the rougher terrain and the steeper downgrades. Overall, it’s a great place to visit.

We visited with my grandaughter; every year I climb the 'firetower' The coverbridge and trails to wander were pretty with autumn leaves and the river meandering under the bridge. Benches to rest. Trails to walk Loved it

So beautiful, my fiancee proposed to me here during fall, absolutely gorgeous views. The hike is not for the weak though, lol.

When it says strenuous take note of that. Make sure you a capable of handling certain trails. The gorge trail has one way down which is very steep. When it's time to go back up it will give you two options. Choose your ability. The harder one was fun for my wife and I but it was truly more difficult. Super fun though and challenging!
