Noisy but clean and convenient. This is a nice campground that is well laid out, with nice views of the Columbia River. The bad part is that you have a highway on one side and trains on the other. If you are looking for a campground right off the highway and can handle the noise or put up with it for a couple of days, this is a good choice. You are also between the Dalles and Hood River so if you need supply's they are only 10 minutes away.
Memaloose is definitely one of the top of my list. Conveniently located, clean showers and restrooms, nice weather, and picturesque view by the Columbia river. This time was not my first time but it was definitely the most pleasant. We reached on a hot day, but it rained for about 30 min right after we set tents and weather turned pleasant. It also rained most of the night, and it was soothing to hear raindrops on the tent when we were sleeping. Bonus was a beautiful sunsets.
well maintained and peaceful campground, the view of the Columbia River is so beautiful. It’s conveniently located along I-84. Entering it via a rest area and make a right turn on the way out. Not too bad to drive through it to our site #33 with our 40’ fifth wheel. Stayed 4 days here and enjoyed many hikes especially the Rowena Crest Viewpoint - McCall Point Trail, the views are really breathtaking.
No privacy. Like, at all. None. Zip. It is one big giant group camping trip. Decent place for a stay during a trip as a pit stop. But for camping trips? No, go somewhere else. The bathrooms are in good condition. The roads are decently maintained. There are fire pits on site, so useful unless there is a burn ban. There are good picnic tables at each site (at least ours and those near us....and even not so near us had one. There is a camp host. That is about all I have for good things to say. The sites are dug up. At my initial thoughts i was upset that someone let their dog dig up the site. However the local squirrel population loves to dig so this is expected for the area. The end result is that there are NO safe spots to put a tent up, with holes abound. There are a few trees, but abso
Good campground conveniently located for Gorge activities. Clean bathrooms and showers. Road noise near top sites is not good, but we were in sites 35 and 33 where there was minimal noise and nice views of the river. Would stay here again.
