Mayfair Hotel

The Mayfair Hotel is one of those rare finds that instantly makes you feel like you’ve stepped back into a simpler, cozier time. It’s quaint, nostalgic, and full of character — the kind of place that reminds you of childhood summers and ocean breezes. The location truly couldn’t be better, sitting right across from the beach with sweeping views of the Atlantic and the soothing sound of waves as your backdrop. Inside, it’s warm and inviting, with that old-fashioned charm that’s hard to come by these days. Everything feels cared for and thoughtfully maintained — from the vintage touches in the rooms to the friendly, welcoming staff who genuinely make you feel at home.

You know how the worst things make the best stories after a trip. That would be the Mayfair hotel. Where to start - the bathtub and shower next to the bed? The ocean view that you couldn't see out the windows cause they were so old and dirty. The windows wouldn't open. The toilet in a room the size of a broom closet. I could go on. We were only there one night - had to find street parking (not difficult, but annoying). It really needs major rehab to bring it up to somewhere I would stay again. I will say it was fairly clean, and that's about all the good I can say about it.

I needed to get a hotel near the job I was working on for a night and thought the Mayfair Hotel would be a good idea (less than a mile from the job). The pictures on the web site seemed 'ok' considering the known age of the building (built 1920) and I figured that it would have 'personality'. The hotel clearly has a history, but most of it was covered in layers of (fairly new) paint and must have been a destination in the early part of the 1900's, complete with what looks like a dining room facing the ocean. Note that the wi-fi coverage and signal in this area (the only real area that you can use a table for a laptop) is quite poor, in fact, the wi-fi coverage and signal was also marginal in my room (108, a corner room). Positive: On beach location, nice lobby and sunroom. Negative: Unusually loud ac unit. The very basic furniture, all shown in photos, turned out to be inadequate for a multi day stay. Luggage rack was not present. Not what I would expect for a four star rating.

Used to love this location. Stayed multiple times. Had to leave for an emergency, and got the manager to agree to a partial refund which just turned out to be another charge to my account. Called the place and talked to them and they said everything looked fine on their side and said nothing they could do. The double charge is clear as day in my account. They literally lied to my bank in the dispute saying they never issued a refund. Now I'm down over 300 dollars for a place I didn't even stay at the last time I went. Would give 0 stars if I could
