Maverick Campground

Renegade 38ft w/jeep in tow. First of October stay. Host was gone for the season so we opted for their site, #50. Water spigot but no electric. Maybe one or two other sites we could have squeezed into in the Maverick CG. Big rigs use Ponderosa CG across the road to unhook & scout sites. Ponderosa is a big parking lot with nice wooded sites on the perimeter. October, only 2-3 campers this time of year. Great CG. Fish & Game delivered a load of fish to the ponds. Eagle Nest is 20 miles away for gas groceries. We camped at Cimarron Canyon State Park, Maverick Campground, Ponderosa campground, in a Motorhome.

Beauty, tranquility and nice campgrounds. The hosts were friendly. Although I could have picked a better spot for my travel trailer my buddy and I switched since his trailer is longer and it worked out. Fun fishing, and my family enjoyed every bit of it. Right before the 4th of July but was tolerable.

We had an exceptional experience at the Maverick Campground! The park hosts were so friendly, helpful and welcoming. The campground and park are well maintained, and the bathrooms were very clean. Our campsite was perfect with the picnic table and fire ring and plenty of room for our large tent. I can’t wait for another trip here!

The campsites here are the most densely packed I have ever seen, situated between the road, the campground driveway, and the park. While the park itself is beautiful, this style of camping does not suit our tastes. We found the requirement to be quiet after 10 PM to be overly restrictive, especially given our group's size and the presence of children who enjoy gathering around the fire pit. It is worth noting that the host complained about noise levels, despite the close proximity of the sites.

Loved it great fishing on the river and saw a lot caught at the lake. Very affordable campground and friendly host
