Marina Inn & Suites

I stayed here in 12/2019, and was impressed then. This visit in 6/2025 added to my opinion. Property has been virtually redone. The history of Madison Barracks (Thue Inn) alone adds to the atmosphere. Add in the staff falling all over themselves to be friendly and helpful makes this place a "go too" spot.

I will be honest, I had know idea when I booked a room here what the lodging would ultimately be like. It is located on Lake Ontario and about a mile from the village of Sackets Harbor. We had to call to contact someone to meet us at the Inn, and when they arrived the check in was fast and easy and because of a higher than usual vacancy being just after Labor Day we were given a free upgrade to a large suite facing the lake. The room was clean and spacious. There are no additional amenities like breakfast or coffee in the lobby but the booking rates are comparatively inexpensive for a hotel of this type. There are a couple of cafes/breakfast places in the village that are very nice. One drawback of the old barracks, there is no elevator so the bags and luggage must be carried up stairs. Th

We had to leave a previous hotel due to an unsatisfactory experience late at night. I called a few places and nearly every place I called was fully booked out. I called this place and Alex immediately picked up and offered us a room. It was a little out of our budget so I decided to give it some thought, and immediately after our phone call he had texted us with a discounted rate. Upon arrival the entire experience was extremely pleasant. The grounds are beautiful and it is a historical building. The building has been clearly renovated and is extremely clean and welcoming. Rooms are clean, large, and beds are comfortable. Breakfast included contains bagels, oatmeal, coffee, yogurt, muffins, etc. This place is well worth the extra money if you're staying for a couple nights.

Recently stayed one night in Marina Inn & Suites. Property is located right on Black Harbor Bay on Lake Ontario. ||||We had a King Suite with a harbor view. The suite was large but the furnishings were old and worn out. The bed and pillows were comfortable. 6 bed pillows as requested were provided. A full kitchenette was useful for eating breakfast in our room. ||||It appeared we were one of two sets of guests staying at the location so it was very quiet but a bit spooky as no staff were on site. Unfortunately the advertised self-service washer/dryer were not available. ||||We recommend The Whiskey Coop restaurant for dinner if you stay in the area.

We recently found ourselves in Upstate NY and stayed one night at the Marina Inn. We loved everything about our stay...the historic building and setting, the super clean and comfortable room, and the cute town of Sackets Harbor. They have done a wonderful job with the restoration of this building and if you love early American history you will love the area! The staff was also excellent with their communication and reached out to us to make sure we had access. We actually arrived into town after dark, but they emailed directions for picking up the key and it was very easy to get into the room. Props to the staff for going above & beyond.
