Margaretville Motel

My pal and I have stayed at many fleabag motels. We ride motorcycles and love finding cheap rooms. It's almost a sport for us. Even the worst ones are better than a tent and Airbnbs get expensive when you're just looking for a place to lay your weary head after riding all day. After reading reviews we were expecting a train wreck. No train wreck here. Just basic rooms at a reasonable price. No bad smells. No mold. No bugs. Nada. Just a clean, straightforward room with the normal amenities. The coffee maker was a bonus. And you are well within walking distance of at least 3 places to eat. If you're smart, you'll walk to the Ark Bowling Alley nearly next door to be blown away with some of the best food you'll find in this, or any, area. Yep...I said the bowling alley.

on a day trip to Margaretville for spending 1 night I only had the choice of staying in room eight which was $25 more than the other motel rooms but when I walked in, it was worth it it had a kitchenette. The room was clean tidy, had an a/c and heating split unit and it had breakfast stuff (as you’ll see in the photos). The newly updated look compared to the online look is great and would highly recommend trying it out. Yes it was a milk a couple juices, some pre packaged pastries, and small cereals but perfect for a one-nights stay , I would even be perfect for a weekend but we enjoyed the room and appreciated the cleanliness and kitchenette so we could cook for ourselves. So.. this is one of the most unhygienic and most disgusting place I have ever stayed. The smell of the room was pungent - sheets looked very dirty. Bathroom was filthy and the door knob was broken. It was so bad to a point that I paid for 2 nights. And I forfeited my reservation and stayed elsewhere for additional money. Customer service , on the other hand, was very nice. It is a shame that owners didnt keep up maintenance. Just a bit of cosmetic cleanup could have made a whole difference here

We were not satisfied with our stay at the Margaretville Motel. The manager, issued a full refund. Today is 1/28/25 and our refund has not been received.

Absolutely disgusting. The fact that this motel charges over $50 to stay is offensive. Blood on the bathroom tiles, cigarette burns on the towels, ancient stains on the carpet, and the smell of black mold when you walk into the room is laughable - I literally had a hard time breathing after about 30 min because of the mold. The only reason we stayed here is because a deer ran out in front of our car that morning and we were stranded. The people that own this motel do not care, they do not keep up and this stay is not worth the cost. Please be cautious when staying here, it is not worth the price unless you are literally in an emergency as we were, buyers beware.
