Lodging at the Gaffer Inn

Room was clean and well appointed. No noise from downstairs or other rooms. Keyless entry and check in and out worked great! Back stairs could be better marked, but the bartender was great and showed us where to go! They add to the atmosphere. Good location for hanging in a cool part of town (we did not do so), and close to the CMoG and the highway. Happy to support a small business, enjoyed our stay and will do so again if we need to be in the area!

Reserving and Accessing Room: Easy to reserve and good communications followed from the Lodge. Note that this lodge does not have a reception desk, though the staff in the restaurant below are available if you need assistance. It operates more like . We received a code for the keyless entry (works on the exterior doors and the room door). We had no issue with either. There are two ways to enter - either from the back outdoor metal stairs, where the parking lot is (see more on parking below) or from the front door on Market Street. The back staircase is open grate type stairs on the exterior, which some other reviews noted as scary. We found that you do need to be careful on these stairs as our sneakers sometimes got snagged on the grate. It is a bit narrow and also there are two s

The rooms are comfortable and well-kept, with really good beds and everything needed for a relaxing stay. Large rooms are always clean and pleasant, and the price feels like excellent value. The location is unbeatable – the Gaffer Inn is right on Market Street itself, which is one of our favorite streets anywhere: fantastic cafés, independent shops, restaurants and a wonderful atmosphere from morning until night. If you're expecting a traditional hotel with a reception and similar services, this is not the place for you It works a bit like a rental apartment – you receive a door code before arrival, but you can also get assistance from the restaurant downstairs. As other travelers have mentioned, the stairs are a bit steep, but manageable if you have no physical limitations.|We stayed in Room 3 – very spacious, clean, with comfortable beds and a huge, well-equipped bathroom. The only thing that could improve the experience would be more natural lighting, as the room is a bit dark. |We’d definitely stay here again – everything is within walking distance and the value for money is excellent!

Big comfortable room with lounge area, only stayed for a night but beds were very good, room was clean, fridge in the room with small kitchen area to make coffee, microwave in room. Local public parking behind the lodge and rear stair access from carpark to rooms. All 4 rooms are on the first floor with no lift. Room had a en-suite with a large shower but no bath. Room was air conditioned. Had a decent sized tv with large 3 seat couch/sofa
