Lodge at Mt. Mitchell

Honestly, this review has been a long time coming, but here it goes. I should have written this years ago but life happens, and I had a friend ask me about this trip recently and it jogged my memory. Back in 2020 I stayed in this lodge with my girlfriend (now wife) and it was fantastic. The view is top notch, the rooms were nice. I loved it. But - the day before we were supposed to drive back home to Florida we hit a deer with my car and my car was not drivable. The owners of the lodge were very accommodating allowing us to stay an extra few days with basically no notice. They went above and beyond what you would expect from even a friend to do for us, complete strangers. They let us borrow their car to get groceries. They let us stay an extra day free - and I had to make them let me pay

This is our 3rd year and we will be back next year. We love the quietness and the beautiful views but also enjoy that wherever we want to go is within a 1 hr drive. The cabin was spotless , the kitchen well equipped and very comfortable . Debbie and Van could not be more accommodating or nicer. The cabin has a new TV, washer/dryer, alarm system , AC, Keurig which we needed instructions on how to use. When we called various times for help,Van was there within 10 mins to help . Van even lit a huge bonfire for my granddaughters which was a big success as was the camp fire where we made s’mores. Can’t wait for next summer to go back.

Debbie and Van are amazing hosts! Very knowledgeable and extremely hospitable. Rooms are comfortable and very clean. My friend and I were looking for a place to stay in the mountains and I’m glad we chose this place. Close to everything we had on our list. We golfed next door, we hiked on Mt Mitchel, walked to the Roaring Fork Waterfalls, even roasted some marshmallows while glancing at the stars at night and enjoying the beautiful views of the mountains just a few steps from the back of our room! On the last day of our stay we even got to see snow. I highly recommend if you’re in the area to check them out. You will not be disappointed. I’m planning my return visit as we speak.

My husband and I had a wonderful experience here. We stayed for two nights to explore Mount Mitchell and the surrounding area. Our room was clean and had all the necessities, including heat in the bathroom! We loved the view from the property and the fact that the property was ours to enjoy during our stay. The only consideration I might mention is that this area seems pretty remote, so plan for a lot of driving to get anywhere and plan Accordingly as resources like gas, groceries, etc are not plentiful in the immediate area. Aside from that, alberts gets 5 stars and makes the perfect place if you want to relax and enjoy the peaceful side of the NC mountains.

Straight out of the 70s, but clean! Rooms looked and smelled clean! Very well maintained for not being updated, but it adds to the charm. Price was great for the kind of room! Fridge is about the size of a dishwasher so a nice size for a short stay. The freezer part needs to be defrosted, but we didn't need it anyway. Had a small oven and range,but didn't end up using it. No dishes/cookware in room, but just ask the owners and you will receive! Shower was nice and hot and had a heat vent in bathroom. It had 2 giant closets also. Would be nice for an extended stay. The view out the back deck was beautiful mountains !
