Living on the Edge

The oddest “attempt to rent” experience I have ever had. Tried to rent this home direct from internet thru the phone number online. This cabin was showing available on VRBO. I did read the google reviews but gave grace since it was explained in response to be under new ownership. When I spoke to Tristen he said it was a 4 night stay minimum even though it doesn’t state that on VRBO and will allow a rental for 3 nights. He acted like he needed to check with “owners” for price and if 3 night stay was allowed —this went on for a week with only follow up being me initiating only to be put off. This was confusing because I thought he was the owner. I initially figured the owners had hired a terrible management company. Living on the Edge is a great cabin.The location and the view are excellent! The cabin is big and well equipped. The Jacuzzi, billiards and the poker table work great. There are some minor disadvantages that can be easily fixed and this is why I give it 5 and not 4 stars. Most mattresses are very much uncomfortable. The carpet on the bottom floor was not vacuumed thoroughly. Not enough light on the porch to enjoy the the evenings after the kids are sleeping (we traveled with toddlers). Finally, you'll need to wait 10-15 minutes between using the same bathroom again because this how long it takes for the water to refill. However, the overall experience was very pleasant and I would highly recommend this cabin.

I am sad to write this as, years ago, staying at this cabin was lovely and exciting. Love the view and memories made then. Now, however, the mattresses are painful and responses to issues of fireplaces not working (which you want on rainy, chilly days!) and the sewage literally backing up on us are just not ideal. We have heard nothing and no discounts. Until things change, I would not recommend.

RENT AT YOUR OWN RISK. I hope you and your family are problem solvers that don’t mind dealing with septic systems. Our family stayed at Living on the Edge for a weekend in October 2018. At first it seemed nice, however we quickly realized the main toilet didn’t stop running, and wouldn’t flush unless you waited a half hour after each use. Ok, not horrible. Rainy weekend= fireplace time. Nope! Neither of the two worked the entire time. Ok ok we will make the best of it. When the septic system stopped working and actually backed up on someone while in the shower (absolutely disgusting!) that was the last straw. Rented this place with some friends and we had a great time! The beds were very loud though when just rolling over or trying to get cozy and the mattresses were terrible. All other spaces made up for these though.
