You really have to want to come here as it is on the way to nowhere, but oh so worth the trip. This campground really is short on privacy, but it makes up for it on views. The sites are decently spaced apart, especially on the end near the river, which you can enjoy listening to all night long. Very clean restrooms with flushing toilets, running water, and soap to wash your hands. Pay attention to the water notice taped on the back of the bathroom door; I would not drink the water. Other than great restrooms and views, the camp is short on amenities, but that's not really why you come here.
Our favorite camp in Arizona. We jockey every morning to get closer to the river because reservations are not available. Site 45 is what we hope for and can normally get it if we stay long enough. ||Our visit this year was however hampered by some theft of small wares off our picnic table overnight. During our week long stay the campground doesn’t take host was ‘off duty’ very single day. The self pay station had a secure envelope drop but it was so full you needed to pry your cash envelope into the slot with a stick or pencil. Obviously nobody was watching over this beautiful park. ||We also saw a few vehicles boondocking in parking lots around the park every night and morning during our visit despite signage banning that activity.
Payment can be at a fee tube at the campground (what I did) or at entrance station. Heavy rain and wind my first night destroyed my payment tag and later the host came pounding on my door demanding I prove I paid. With the tag gone the host became angry and irate and accused me of not paying. Therefore tip: take a picture of your fee envelope before deposit in the tube so you can prove to the hostile host that you paid should something happen to your tag. In addition half of the campground is blocked off for construction with no indication of what changes are being made or how long the closure is planned. The views are great and there is a lot to do nearby, but the host’s attitude destroys the experience.
Several sites available now mid Nov. Clean sites, shade and wind apparatus at most of the smaller sites around the outside. Water available down by boat launch. Extremely well kept National Park campground and boating area. I think some of the litter we did see came here by the heavy rains, it appeared that they take great care of this area.
Amazing location! Not full RV hookups or power, but great to stay a night and have river walk in access to the Colorado River. There's a great section to fish, but the better fishing is renting a boat and heading up the river. We'll definitely be back!
