We reserved for our 5 year anniversary 01/25/26. Mother Nature had other ideas with tons of ice, snow and below freezing temperatures. Roads to Mohican State Park were closed, which was literally the reason/intent of our stay. There was no flexibility on "cancelling," but we were given the option of rescheduling within a week or so for a $50 charge. This seemed a bit "harsh/unforgiving," given the circumstances, and won't soon be forgotten. Room choices available in the time frame given were limited, but we still at least ended up with a King room. The room itself was nice, although dated. Creaky wood floors and a creaky heater "added" to the experience. Nice fire place, bathroom, and kitchenette. Robes were provided, but were rough enough, I passed. We had hoped to take advantage of th
Extremely disappointed in our recent stay (2/13 - 2/14) and here’s why. 1. For $500 a night, this place is WAY over priced. Even $200 a night is on the high end. 2. The place is very dated and not maintained. For example, the bathroom Faucet spins almost 90 degrees because no one will take 2 minutes to tighten it. 3. The bed was extremely uncomfortable. All it needs is the mattress flipped so you don’t roll to the middle. 4. If you stay here, make sure you get a room where no one is above you. The rooms have hardwood floors so you hear every step the people above you make. 5. The heat won’t turn off. While the thermostat was set to 65, we had the windows open all night and the room was still 78 at 7am. 6. We had dinner at the Copper Mug which was good and reasonably pri
We’ve stayed in the same cottage a few times. The location and castle are great, and the cottage is nice, though a bit worn. However, twice now the hot tub—advertised as an outdoor feature and the main reason we booked at a higher rate—was only 94°F and took all night to warm, making it unusable. Staff were dismissive, even though they knew it wasn’t ready. Worse, we heard rodents in the ceiling all night. On the upside, the restaurant was delicious, and the waitstaff were fantastic. But the hotel staff? Didn’t care. I’d recommend skipping the stay—just visit the restaurant if you want something good out of it.
We were looking for a quick romantic getaway holiday weekend as an alternative to our usual which is a Hocking Hills cabin rental. Our interaction with the staff during our stay was mixed. Some were welcoming, others were rude and annoyed with us just being there so it left us a little confused like hey is this worth almost $400/night for this. The biggest issue was the room smell and quality. We stayed in the stables suites. Once the room warmed up it smelled like urine and old feet. Our visit was during a cold spell so we couldn't air out the room due to the temperature and wound up leaving around 5 am on day 2. There were also holes in the drywall and overall needed a refresh. We tried the restaurant 2x. The staff was a refreshing change because they were friendly but the food was awful
We had a beautiful wedding here in 2019 and have attended several events held at the castle. This castle and town will always hold a special place in my heart!! The details of the wedding went smoothly. The only complaint about the food were the carrots being undercooked and crunchy. Everything else was delicious, including the dinners we have had at the Copper Mug. The only real issue were the rooms. Some, not all, of the rooms felt outdated (even considering the antique feel) and seemed a little musty. It is beautiful, unique and hidden away in the woods of the Mohican forests. We will always return.
