Lake View Lodge

In the winter, Lake View Lodge remains open while most businesses in Lee Vining are closed. The rooms are clean. The plumbing works except for some annoying issues like the toilet sometimes doesn't fill right, the shower knob is loose and difficult to operate, one of the sinks only issues hot water. But we managed quite well and didn't complain. The heat works well though a bit noisy. I think the owners should pay a bit more attention to the details. All in all, I felt the place is acceptable.

This was our first trip to the area and we had no idea where to stay. There are very limited options so we were a little nervous about what kind of place we would find. We were pleasantly surprised to find a very welcoming staff, clean rooms, beautiful park-like setting and homemade food at the cafe at the Lake View Lodge. Some of the low ratings this place has in the past seem a little petty ... if you want a new, state of the art, spa experience... there is a Ritz Carlton in Tahoe. We had a comfortable bed (yes, the bed spreads and bedding are outdated, but clean), plenty of hot water, a good place to eat, outdoor space that has beautiful views, quiet places to read or just relax and a great location for hiking the nearby trails. We would most definitely stay here again!

The "bare bones" room lives up to its name. No carpet and a shared bathroom. That's reasonable considering the price. A cracked porcelain toilet on the other hand is not. When I brought it up with the from desk the attendant stated he was unaware of this, but was only able to upgrade my room for an extra 150$. I hope they have good insurance in case this thing shatters on someone.

A Disappointing Stay at Lake View Lodge! From the start, the welcome was cold. The staff showed little interest in helping us, which immediately set an unpleasant tone. Instead of feeling like valued guests, we felt like a burden. The room was another letdown: old, musty, and poorly lit. It looked neglected and lacked any sense of comfort. Relaxing or enjoying our stay simply wasn’t possible in such an environment. Considering the rate of over $250 for just one night, the value for money was extremely poor. The lodge seems to survive purely because of its location near Yosemite, while offering little in terms of quality or service. In the end, the high price combined with the unfriendly service made this stay deeply disappointing.
