Love artsy buildings made with repurposed materials! I stayed in Na Bolom and the walls were made of “papercrete” shredded newspaper. Beautiful, starry night sky and a wonderful view of the surrounding mesas, especially from their nearby community tower. The bed was very comfortable, the shower hot, and the kitchen well-appointed. It is helpful to have earplugs with some nearby dogs, chickens and the occasional sound from the toilet and hot water heater after use. For the price point, I’d say there could be a few updates such as better lighting in the shower area, updated blinds and a deep clean. Ingrid was very kind to lead me straight to the house, get me settled and answer a few questions. It was an easy 1.5 hr drive to the eastern side of Big Bend. Would love to return!

If you're looking for a comfortable stay and an eclectic artistic experience, this is your place. If you're uncomfortable with things that are outside of the norm or don't look like the usual interstate chain motel, consider taking a deep breath and a leap of faith to have a new good experience. ||We stayed in the delightful Spitit House. To the casual eye, it might not look like much from the outside. But look a bit closer and appreciate the eclectic quirky sense of the place. Inside, is a charmingly quirky and very comfortable (and clean) casita with all the amenities you need, including toiletries, dishes and utensils, games, a mini-fridge, a microwave, and a very comfortable memory foam bed in the master bedroom. Note that each casita at La Loma Del Chivo is different and unique

La Loma del Chivo is a truly unique place to stay. Ingrid was there to greet me when I arrived and was a gracious host. The room was cozy and clean. If you’re looking for a quiet and cool place to stay off the beaten path on your way to Big Bend I highly recommend staying here.

One of my favorite places to stay in Marathon, Texas. Naturally a quirky town, this place is no different. Very comfortable beds and a clean bathhouse. Our favorite is the Goat Shed! La Loma Del Chivo also has fantastic views of the Glass Mountains. Thanks for all the great stays over the years.

I loved this quirky spot ! The hostess was so sweet. She met me in person to show me the property and she was just amazing! The stars ! I was traveling solo, so this was perfect for me
