La Cuesta

There are 4 corrals that were well appointed. (Not level) Big drive way in front to back in and turn. We were all alone the whole weekend. Great access to some of the trails in BBRSP (Closed Canyon, Hoodoos) New rules for RVs. This is the only location within the state park that I’m aware of. Worked well for us. Enjoyed our stay.

Great dark sky location. There are 4 corral locations off of Farm Rd 170, the first site is most level, but each one gets worse. There is a clean vault toilet onsite. The river access is right down the hill. Try running up the hill a couple of times for extra exercise. Sites have a fire pit, grill and picnic table.

Stayed June of 2021. If you want to be out out of town. You’ve got it. Some wildlife spotted at night. Plenty of centipede and some scorpions. Site is a hard slope down to the river. So take plenty of leveling stuff with you. Got fresh water at the ranger station. Great place for star watching.

I was nervous about this campground because it’s right off the road. But it was mostly very quiet and pitch black so the stars are extra bright. There are four spots. The spot closest to the road is most level and the spot closest to the pit toilet is very unlevel. TPW keeps the pit toilet very clean and well stocked with tp. Local canoe outfitters come in twice a day to drop off a dozen canoes. This is a great spot to visit the interior of the state park as well as the national park.
