Knob Noster State Park

I stopped specifically to walk the Clearfork Woodland Trail with an extension along the Hawk Nest Trail to Buteo Lake. After four days of travelling to ten different Missouri State Parks and Historic Sites, I was ready for a shorter walk and this filled the bill. If I had more time, I would have taken the Buteo Trail around the lake - it looked like it would be a pretty one.

Great trails at Knob Noster State Park. There's like 8 trails, most under 2 miles. Very clean. The bathrooms are clean, portable potty like. Plenty of parking. We hiked the Hawk Nest Trail. ( follow main road , turn left to Buteo Lake -across from campground). The trail was nice. Mix of flat ground and hills ( pay attention to rocks and roots)

I drove out to knob noster State Park, to be able to hike the possum trail that they have there. It's a little over 5. Mi takes about 2 hours and some change to complete it. During my hike. I did see quite a few deer out there, even a couple snails. This was a dog friendly Park. As long as your dogs were on leashes, they do offer mountain biking trails but due to the wet conditions it was closed to mountain bikers today. The trail did offer a few shortcuts that would shorten the trail by quite a bit of a mount if you just wanted to get out and stretch your legs up. Once I was able to get further into the trail I did notice there was some glass that had been broken. Looked like It had been there a while but just be careful with your fur babies. Camping in Knob Noster is always fun as long as wildlife doesn't scare you as they love to join you!! I have been an avid camper since I was in diapers and still love it and Knob is one of the ones I camp regularly!! Only complaint I have is that they need a bathroom and shower house in the tent camping area instead of having to walk a mile everytime you have to use it!!! Other than that it is close to several towns for supplies and gas and it is well monitored!!!

We stopped here to rest and make lunch. The entire grounds were absolutely clean. The visitor center had a lot of local history and lore. This is a must visit place. Very nice campgrounds too with all hookups as needed, electric, water and sewer. Tent sites too.
