I had concerns about the health and safety conditions at Keesler Inn, specifically the Simmons building where I stayed for one night, on Jan 27, 2026. I checked out after that night, despite having another week there. When I walked into my room, there was an immediate and overwhelming musty odor and the following morning, I had developed a persistent cough. I noticed there was visible mold and mildew throughout the space — including the ceiling, walls, and carpet. Water was actively dripping from the ceiling near both the window and the door, and black mold was present and spreading across multiple surfaces. These conditions are unacceptable and dangerous. The hotel wasn't bad except for one major flaw I will get to. The rooms were clean and the laundry facilities too which were free to wash and dry. The housekeepers were very friendly and did a great job. Be aware however of the power outlets in the rooms. The outlets are set to turn off automatically as well as the Air Conditioning/heating if there is no motion detected. I had to tie a commissary bag to a light fixture next to the vent to stay warm all night. I also have a medical device which I thought was broken and needless to say it wasn't, it was the timer in the room. This isn't disclosed when you check in nor in their book in the room. Other than this one flaw the stay was great.

The room had moldy vents and I did not notice until a week into my stay, I thought I was just feeling sick and coughing because of allergies. They couldn’t turn my air off so I had to wait another day for this to get resolved. Housekeeping skipped my room for service on a weekend day, I needed my sheets replaced because I was sick and had sweated through the sheets. Manager on shift was not very kind and had a short fuse with me. Take the non-a if you’re given the option

Why was the heater on at the highest setting during a heat wave? Not sure how I feel about what appears to be black mold in the bathroom. Water from sink smells like chlorine. Fridge wasn’t plugged in so the food I had gotten prior to getting it cold enough spoiled. Leftover hair stuck in freshly laundered towels and it’s definitely not my hair if you catch my drift. Staff are nice though. Washer/dryer room is kept clean. My one star is to reflect that all my food went to waste. If no per diem why no kitchen or places to eat that are open when I go to eat? If heater is on disturbingly high why not have the fridge on coldest setting? Asking the dumb questions here. I feel dumb for having these problems.
