Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest, Cheoah Ranger District, Nantahala National Forest

The trails are well maintained and well marked. The Tulip trees are amazing. We went in the winter and there were very little people there so it was very peaceful.

This was such a beautiful experience. We can't wait to go back when we return to the area. This is an amazing place and worth the visit. Words cannot do it justice. Breathtaking.

Such a cool spot. I came here years ago as a kid and it's just as awe inspiring now as it was then. Great hiking trails with absolutely magnificent trees. I couldn't get over just how big these poplars were. A good amount of parking at the beginning along with clean bathrooms. Next time I'm in the area, I will definitely be back here. This is definitely a Western NC gem. A must visit

What a glorious place to "lose yourself"! We tried the trail to the Memorial but the big set of steps part of the way up prevented 72 year olds from making it up. 😢 Maybe a hand railing would be helpful. Otherwise it was a wonderful place for us to have a picnic!!

Peacefully. Beautiful. Nice trails, lift your feet or the roots might get you. It looks like the trail could be tricky if it rains a substantial amount.
