Hyland Motor Inn

I checked in on Sunday August 10th. I had to wait a long time at the front desk to check in. When I went to my room to put my stuff away it was not ready which I do not understand why the front desk did not inform me of that. That was not a big issue so I waited but it was past the check in time they have listed. I wished the cleaning lady would have cleaned the bathroom better because the toilet lid, sink, and shower were dirty. I did bring my own cleaning supplies so I handled it myself. Upon flushing the toilet, I was covered in dirty toilet water. My pants and underwear were soaked with everything in the toilet water. Positive: The staff was very attentive when I asked for my room to be cleaned. The pool is huge and clean. Really quiet for being next to the Parkway. Negative: Please invest in fitted sheets, I beg you. The plastic mattress covers add 10 degrees to your sleep.

Where do I begin, This is obviously a property that takes social services vouchers. I personally have nothing against this however, people sometimes can not help their financial situation. This property had many issues. 1. The room smelled horribly of old cigarette smoke and mildew. ( They post a no smoking policy.) 2. The furniture is old and needs desperate replacing. 3. The carpet needs replacing. ( The carpet however was well vacuumed.) 4. The bedding including bed spreads are old and need updating. Sheets were very clean, that's a plus. 5. The air conditioning system ( wall unit ) didn't work. I tried turning it on, stupidly without my glasses and where I thought the power switch was, I stuck my finger into what I thought was a black push switch and was electrically shocked. I m

Let me start off by saying it is next to impossible in the summer to get a hotel room for 1 night at the Jersey Shore. If you were to find that unicorn, I guarantee you’re selling your soul to the devil, your first born, or paying more than your mortgage. When my husband and I decided to go to Cape May for the day and stay overnight I started the search and Hyland Motor came up and had availability. The reviews weren’t bad but the most recent was 4 years ago but we took the chance and booked. The place is conveniently located between Cape May and Wildwood boardwalk which was a plus. The place is old but it was clean and surprisingly quiet. The pool was nice, the chaise chairs had seen better days but they were plentiful. This was the worst motel I've ever stayed at in my life. You couldn't pay me $200 a night to sleep here... The room was rundown, the beds and pillows were very uncomfortable and dirty with stains, the bathroom looked like something out of a horror movie, and a fire alarm went off every 20 minutes starting at 3am and going until 10am. We got no sleep and found a big spider on the comforter in the morning (see photo). There was no one at the front desk all night to help with the fire alarm situation, and when we spoke with them in the morning, they acted like "oh well" and glanced at the "no refunds" sign. We decided to check out early even though we paid for two nights, and they actually complained that we didn't leave early enough for them to re-rent the room (and get double the fees). Mea
