Hyatt House LA - University Medical Center

Really convenient hotel for anyone with family members at Keck hospital. It was a game changer for a really serious time, and made the long hospital days doable. Breakfast was really good - lots of choices, and way above usual continental breakfasts. Rooms were clean and spacious. Gym was great (but no floor mats) too. Lots of nice chairs to lounge around in. The train noise was real (4 times/night?) but they provide ear plugs if you are willing to wear them. I highly recommend staying here if you have family members in the hospital.

Positive: Location to medical building and comfort of the lobby. Negative: Room is noisy from the heating/ac unit.

We booked a studio, the room is spacious and clean. The hotel is inside the USC health science campus and is very close to Keck hospital. The parking is 38+ tax per night but if you arrive late (past 12am) you can park in the garage directly with $20 flat fee. Another thumb down is the train noise at night. I slept deeply but my wife was waken by the huge noise.

Ok this is not a fancy hotel but I can't sing it's praises more! I just spent 11 days in the Hyatt House while my husband had open heart surgery around the block at Keck Medicine. I hope the staff read this review because it comes from my heart. I can not say enough about how nice and considerate and compassionate and helpful the staff are here. The front desk people, the bar tender, the housekeepers. So wonderful! The breakfast is excellent and the pool and hot tub are amazing! I mean I would come here for a staycation even thought I am usually more interested in a fancier 5 star rated hotel. I loved this hotel! Special thanks to the young lady Jokara at the front desk for being the epitome of hospitality. Wish this location would invest in usable luggage carts because they all seem too wonky and you will get your workout manuevering them. Wish there was a shuttle to a metro. Be aware that the freight trains often pass so the nearest entrance to the campus can be blocked until the trains pass. You can drive around to another entrance. Grateful that they expanded their tea selection for breakfast.
