Top rated coastal camping. there are two different campgrounds within this state park and both are awesome. There are trails that lead to the ocean and to a bird viewing lake. Clean restrooms an awesome gift shop where you check in and a historic home that’s open for touring. They also have a nature center with daily programs available.

What a great location for this State Park. The price is higher than most State Parks campgrounds but you get some sites with full hookups and a 5 minute walk to a gorgeous beach. We'll worth the price. This is our 3rd visit and this time we stayed for a week. So much to do in the area. The staff is also awesome.

We were at site #159, just on the other side of the dunes. Don't expect a good cell or wifi signal. What you can expect is peace and quiet with a smattering of the sound of children at play. Every now and then you'd hear someone with unruly dogs, but it honestly wasn't a problem for us. The live oaks are a bit of an issue on one side of this loop for larger campers, but the rangers showed for our neighbors right away to prune limbs that were problematic without damaging the beautiful tree. Getting in and out of this campground is relatively easy, and the beach access is gorgeous. And this time of the year (late December), we had the beach almost to ourselves. For$2 and within walking distance of both campgrounds, you can tour the home of Archer and Anna Huntington, Atalaya Castle. We

We had a quick drive to visit their state park to check out the alligators…I was a lil bit scared though because they might suddenly get off out from the water and hit me😀. Although it was fun seeing alligators hiding themselves in the swamp but we will know because the green algae moves. You will also notice their eyes not really the body as it seems like a part of dead tree branches. You can also see some birds and rabbits around which is really relaxing to see the beautiful God’s creation, the nature and the species living in this area. Just be careful look around and don’t stay closer and watch yourself when you are on the area where reminders are posted.

Volunteers and paid employees are so friendly and helpful. Dump station in great working order. The beach is so uncrowded. Atalaya and Brookgreen make the location so interesting. The restrooms are very clean. It is also such a fun place for bird watching. In addition you had perfect weather for us this trip.
