Humboldt Redwoods Inn

What a wonderful place starting with the office on the phone! Extremely courteous people who are down to earth. Very clean room and such a comfortable bed! The heater /AC unit worked wonderfully and was clean so it didn't have any smells. Free wifi for the Visio TV mounted on the wall to stream from with remote. Excellent hot water and shower pressure. Nice thick soft towels. Mini fridge with freezer, microwave and a small coffee maker with coffee and fixings. Right off the main road. I'll definitely be back there!!!

The exterior of the units in severe need of work: repairing brick steps to rooms, landscaping, painting, junk removal. It looks like the interior of the units has been recently updated with new wallpaper, flooring, bathroom fixtures, painting, tile work. Bed was comfortable. Room was quiet. No one at reception when we checked in; no one there when we checked out. A decent place to stay when you don't expect any amenities - or breakfast, or pool or an ice machine. Check local prices for your stay.Vi

So. The beds were clean, which is good. However the shower was missing a showerhead and the bath basin was littered with detritus. So if you need a bed and a room with a lock, you could certainly do worse. If you want to decompress and have a nice shower after a long day, perhaps turn your gaze elsewhere. However the lady who checked us in was pretty nice, and most importantly, she was there and available at 10pm when we desperately needed somewhere to stay. All in all, a 3/5.

The problem here are the reviewers who give a pass to the “quirky” lady running the place. Quirky or not, she is responsible for no coolant in a/c units on 95 degree days, plumbing that can’t be relied on dirt/ hair in the coffee maker. It’s a Bates Motel, enter at your own risk.

As Red Dragon stated, I cannot cancel my reservation, well ahead of the deadline. No one answers phone, no reply to the email that was sent to the link for cancelling. Very very frustrating. I guess i just have to be wait to see if they charge. Talk to my credit card. What a hassle!
