The "Weinhard Hotel" is no more! The building has been emptied out of its historic furniture, charm, and warmth, to be replaced by a 'contactles' (read: coldly impersonal) "Hardware Hotel". Dayton Washington was a perfect stoppping point, but no more. Instead of a room from the late 19th century, we got a nearly empty echo chamber of hard white walls, one (1) plastic chair, one (1) plastic little round table, some plastic cups in the bathroom, no facial tissues, no courtesy water bottle, no bath mat, no grab-bar in shower, and two (2) orange crates for night stands (oh so chic), but no dresser, no window curtain (just a 50% translucent pull down that cut some of the afternoon glare but offered no privacy at night). My partner and I were so welcomed back when it was the Weinhard, includ
Immaculately clean, so comfortable, the vibe is so sophisticated and well designed with every detail. Loved our stay and would come back in a heart beat. Also, Padraic’s drinks are phenomenal—best old fashion I’ve ever had.
A Hidden Gem in the Heart of Dayton Hotel Hardware is an absolute treasure! From the moment we arrived, we were struck by the thoughtful design and incredible attention to detail. The historic charm of the building has been perfectly preserved while seamlessly blended with modern comfort and style. Every inch of this boutique hotel feels intentional, elegant, and warm. One of the absolute highlights is The Bobcat Room—the hotel’s stunning bar. The atmosphere was cozy and elevated, with an unmistakable nod to the building’s rich history. The cocktails were expertly crafted (by Padraic), beautifully presented, and honestly some of the best we’ve had anywhere. It’s the perfect spot to unwind. We haven’t stayed overnight yet, but we were lucky enough to get a personal tour of the rooms—and
Great place to visit, the rooms are homey and each one has a unique touch. The design throughout the hotel makes this place a one of a kind experience. Make sure to stop by the Bobcat lounge for some awesome cocktails and beers!🍻
This beautiful hotel is an independently owned business. I prefer these to chain hotels, the owners are around running the place and doing a great job. There was so much attention to detail we even got a little greeting gift upon arrival. I didn’t see any ghosts this round but the place is very old and is tastefully decorated. There is a bar on site and it’s walking distance to everything Dayton has to offer. I will stay here again if I go back to visit.
