Hotel Avenida

Just the tiniest bit outdated, but looks like they just went private and are working on upgrading. Quiet, peaceful and clean. Did I mention quiet? I can hear the ocean from outside my room! Even if you let them know you don’t need full housekeeping, they’ll replace your towels and clean the bathroom at least! Came back after a long day with family to clean towels, a scrubbed tub and toilet and regret for not moving my makeup off the counter for the housekeepers. They didn’t touch a single personal item, they just came in and did what they needed and I didn’t even notice at first. I really appreciated them taking that initiative and seeing that even if I left the room in a rush, I had no clean towel and replacing it. It’s the little things for me, and this place is great. I never stayed there -- I got the run-around trying to get a non-smoking room.|This is one of the Rodeway Inns chain.|A friend suggested this place, so on Mon 4/28/25, I tried to book a room. I googled Hotel Avenida, San Clemente, but instead of seeing the hotel website, I was immediately redirected to Priceline’s website, which quoted $89/night. Then, after I booked the room, the rate was shown as $118/night.|I was never asked whether I wanted a SMOKING or NON-SMOKING room. Priceline sent me an email saying:|Hotel Phone Number 347-752-4172 (New York City)||I called, and the employee who answered had a heavy accent & was nearly impossible to understand, but I did hear that my room was SMOKING. At check in they demanded CASH & deposit but took a copy of my credit card as well. We stayed for 4 nights, Saturday, October 18 & ckd out Wednesday, October 22, 2025. I noticed when we got home 8 hours away & unpacked, my jewery bag of my most lovely & favorite, gold with diamond pieces, silver pieces, as well as much of my favorite collection of unique jewelry from travels all over was missing from my suitcase. We had the blue, Do Not Disturb tag that was provided, in the room card entry slot the entire time.. BTW, they knew that we were going to San Diego Tuesday & wouldnt be around. I called to tell them of the missing jewelry bag & they said they'd check with the housekeeper but of course she said she didn't see it, because I just know she stole it. They have a master key with access

Great hotel, and they are in the center of everything in San Clemente. WiFi is not best but overall good and comfortable experience.

He treats guests like criminals. He will ask for a $250 cash deposit including ATM fees and take a copy of your credit card. There's absolutely no customer service. He doesn't care about any of your concerns or complaints. He will lie to you to get you off his case. It's ironic that he wants to act picky, and yet, he's the slumlord running the hotel to the ground.
