Horn Rapids Campground

Shhhhh what a gem. We were striking out with reservations and came upon this county park. First come and thankfully we found a shaded 50A site with water. (I'd never seen a spigot like this - you have to tug the brass thing below the faucet downwards to direct water to the outlet). Vote 2020.

Nice small campground, about 22 sites with hookups. Not really any shade so be prepared. Large grassy areas, trails along the Yakima river and, oddly enough, a large hall with plenty of parking that can be rented.

Great open space plenty of beautiful views. Trails Right along the river. About 5 miles so kinda short but well maintained with plenty of parking. Worth coming again!

We camped here back in 2019. The campground was beautiful, and we were highly disappointed to find out it is closed potentially indefinitely due to vandalism. When we stayed there we were in a tent during summer. The nights were mild. And even though our daughter was only 2 at the time, she had a lot of fun walking the trails with her Daddy. It was a cheaper campground (I wanna say $15 or $30 a night), but unfortunately, Cricket and Straight Talk cell service were nonexistent. I do hope they are able to reopen the campground soon.

I usually don't give such low ratings as here, but they really earned it. The place for itself would be nice, but the bath house is so run down it is disgusting. And somewhat plain dangerous as there are open wires from the dismantled token showers sticking uninsulated out of the wall. Shower heads are gone, dirt everywhere, just 20% of the stalls are even open to use them. The information board says that the premises are cleaned once day, this for sure did not happen for this day I was there. It looked like someone made his dishes in the shower or had a party there. Food leftovers in it, some plastic cutlery, paper plates on the floor. Disgusting. To ask 35$ for this mess is a plain ripoff.
